Level 3 in games design

unit 78 digital graphics in games design

understanding the theory and application Computer game graphics

Pixel ARTS, 3D isometric sprite 2D sprites

In computer graphics, a sprite is a two-dimensional bitmap that is integrated into a larger scene Originally sprites referred to independent objects that are composited together, by hardware, with other elements such as a background. there are also 3d sprites which are more of the 3 dimensional world like 3d objects and a 3d background . sources from http://v-play.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/make_pixel_art_PyxleOS.png and http://www.strandedsoft.com/contenidos/uploads/2014/04/pixelart_build.jpg

Concept art, eg character, weapon, vehicle, environment

Concept art is basically like a brain storm of a idea in development, it is not the final design but it is a work in progress so it can be developed into something that can be altered with different ideas. most of these is usually sketches and designs of characters ,guns, clothes and then they make it on a computer and add shading and colour and it is like a work of art. source of image https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--caRjzPRP--/c_scale,fl_progressive,q_80,w_800/19bcjeag75gjbjpg.jpgImage result for concept art in games

Texture art
texture art in games is basically to try and make the game have such a good quality that it makes it look like a work of art .These textures can be in the form of 2D or (rarely) 3D art that may be overlaid onto a polygon mesh to create a realistic 3D model.

Background graphics

One of the most important aspects of a successful video game is the environment. The background is what sets the stage for the player, and knowing how to create great-looking backgrounds will improve your value as a designer. source http://orig13.deviantart.net/835e/f/2013/273/f/2/abandoned_city_background_by_hofarts-d6ompx9.jpg

In-game interface

in game interference is basically like a head up display which is like the ammo that you have left or how many lives you have left. basically it is information that you need to know in the game.source

print media

print media is the way to sell the game or promote the game by using posters and even the packaging of the game case and posters to sell the game and the manual has to have the cover art on it so it seems appealing to read. iamage source https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvkSaFdNv6lnqTWDCVzwuKTEs44b0_rSrcge-2pZUlPGYyVUaIKWJYp0CEpnoOIqIKbeNo-DVxOLgLq76Dgpbu5vyJz9A0O00Lb7NorK0N6JhxFd-tpGMyI25Sde2aNp0JQpJxijvk9glg/s1600/print+media+3.jpg

Types of Digital Graphics

Raster images

Raster images are mainly (bmp, gif, tiff, jpg)

in games graphics raster images is mainly rectangular pixels or points of colour veiwable by a monitor or o paper Raster images are stored in image files with varying formats.

Vector images

Unlike JPEG sGIF s, and BMP images, vector graphics are not made up of a grid of pixels. Instead, vector graphics are comprised of paths, which are defined by a start and end point, along with other points, curves, and angles along the way. A path can be a line, a square, a triangle, or a curvy shape.
